One of the improvements of CorelDRAW X5 is its new “pixels” view. As you see in the picture below, it can be activated the same way as other kinds of view mode, from the View Menu. Well, I like it so much. It’s a really cool improvement and in fact, I think it will be the most suitable view mode for the web graphists. This view mode, as its name implies, shows the exact pixels of your final artwork. In this mode, when your zoom level is at 800% or higher, the drawing window turns into a grid of pixels separated by horizontal and vertical gray lines. This style helps the design procedure get more precise.

When the pixels view mode is activated, the calibration of rulers is automated. Have a look at the picture below and you will see that “Calibrate Rulers…” button in the “Zoom, Hand Tool” section of the “Options” window is disabled. It’s because we don’t have any ruler with the traditional values anymore. Now, the “Familiar Pixels” are our units and a ruler with this new unit needs no calibration. It works in complete accordance with the screen resolution.

Keep in mind that when you need to edit your objects in a high level of magnification, it’s better to switch to “Enhanced” view mode and temporarily make the pixels hide from view.
